Information-based emergency arrangements covering evacuation, gas incidents, first aid, spill response, isolation and escalation.

Emergency procedures

Fire / evacuation

Raise the alarm, stop work if safe, leave by the nearest safe exit, go to the assembly point and do not re-enter until authorised.

Gas incident

Keep people away, avoid ignition sources near oxygen, isolate only if trained and safe, contact emergency services and supplier support where required.

Serious injury

Call 999 for serious injury, crush injury, suspected fracture, heavy bleeding, collapse, burns, electric shock or entrapment.

  • Location: Brocks Road, Swaffham, Norfolk, PE37 7XG.
  • Nature of emergency: Fire / medical / suspicious item / gas / other.
  • Exact location on site: Production area / office / yard / store.
  • Persons injured, trapped or unaccounted for: Yes / No / Unknown.
  • Known hazards: oxygen, nitrogen, gas cylinders, machinery, vehicles, smoke/fumes or fire spread.
  • Emergency services access: Front car park, with 360-degree external access around the factory.
  • Assembly point: Front car park.

A responsible person, Works Manager Guy Larner, will meet emergency services on arrival where safe to do so.

Confirmed escape and access arrangements

  • Primary access: front car park / normal staff access.
  • Fire exits: confirmed fire exit doors to be kept clear internally and externally.
  • Goods access: rear roller shutter door to rear driveway for goods in and out.
  • Assembly point: Front Car Park.

Immediate fire action

  1. Raise the alarm and warn others.
  2. Evacuate by the nearest safe exit.
  3. Do not stop to collect belongings.
  4. Do not re-enter until authorised.
  5. Call 999 where fire is confirmed or suspected.

Production-specific fire risks

  • Laser production zones: ignition, hot material, extraction/LEV and combustible waste controls.
  • Racking/storage: fire loading, pallet control and clear escape routes.
  • Liquid oxygen: oxygen enrichment can rapidly intensify fire; no smoking/hot works near oxygen systems.
  • Electrical/FLT charging: charging areas and electrical systems must remain controlled and inspected.

Bomb threat / suspicious item awareness

  • Do not touch suspicious items.
  • Move away, inform site management and contact emergency services where required.
  • Preserve information from any telephone threat: wording, caller details, background noise and time.
  • Consider evacuation route selection carefully; avoid moving people toward a suspected item.
